The Proposal: We took a trip down to Denmark, WA, to celebrate my 26th birthday. We stayed at Aiyna Retreat in the beautiful woodland Tao Suite. We’d only been living in Australia for 7 months so we wanted to explore some more of this beautiful state.
Jonathan surprised me with flowers, champagne, chocolates and a massage for my birthday along with some other small gifts. As I enjoyed the heavenly spa treat, I began the 2 minute walk back to our private lodge. As I approached the front door I realised there were no lights on. .
As I walked in the room, the scene took my breath away. There were 200 lit tea light candles surrounding the entire bathroom. The luxury spa bath was filled with red rose petals, with a bottle of champagne and some handmade chocolates surrounding the area.
Jonathan stood at the far end of the bathroom, said a few beautiful words and proceeded to go down on one knee to propose. Happy tears streamed down my face as I of course said yes!
Describe your wedding ceremony: Our wedding ceremony took place on the silica sands of Whitehaven Beach In the Whitsundays. It was an intimate affair with only two guests. Myself and my husband!
We started our day at the gorgeous Palm Bay resort on Long Island. We stayed in the islands Platinum House property, which is a huge two bedroom house with expansive views out to the Coral Sea.
Describe your wedding reception: Our reception was a truly romantic, fairy-tale affair. We had a private chef who cooked up a storm for us. We had a 3 course meal in the luxury of our platinum house, surrounded by fresh roses - matching my bouquet- and candles everywhere. Jonathan had made a surprise playlist of songs to accompany our reception.
After our meal, we popped a bottle of champagne and watched the stars shine down on our day.
Did you employ a certain theme for the day: We didn’t have a theme so much, it was more a conceptual ideal of creating a romantic, once in a life time kind of day that would celebrate our love in a way that reflected both of our personalities and desires.
Everything was very classic and elegant with the hope that our photographs and video do not date.
The Flowers: I adored my flowers! They were a posy style bouquet that consisted of open white icebreaker roses, white lace cluster roses and a few perfume de grande roses -pale pink- finished with a ribbon bound stems in the fabric of my wedding dress.
Buttonhole consisted of a pink rose on a leaf backing again finished with some of the blush fabric of my wedding dress.
What was the highlight of the day: I have two! Seeing Jonathan looking back at me whilst I walked down the aisle was a very emotional moment and one I won’t ever forget. The other was saying my vows to Jonathan meaning every single word and falling more and more in love with him with each second that passed!
What advice/tips do you have for other brides: Don’t get bogged down in the planning or distracted by other peoples opinions, create a day that truly represents you and your husband and enjoy every single moment . It’s your day!
